Becoming a University Student

I haven't written any blog posts (excluding the reviews) in ages! It feels awkward to start writing again, but I'm excited to share the experience of my first time becoming a university student. Since 15 June, about 3 weeks ago, I have enrolled into Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA), in Gong Badak, Kuala Terengganu.

Frankly, I didn't expect to get the offer here (UniSZA is actually my fourth choice). I was hoping for either UIA or UiTM, so when I found out that I got the offer in UniSZA instead, it pretty much blew my socks off. In a bad way. I grew up always sticking close to my family, so when suddenly I have to be sent miles away from them, I cried almost every time I think about it. Call me a spoiled child or anything, but who are you to judge what I do?

So these are two of the few pictures that I took with my family on the morning of the registration day. We spent a night in a homestay somewhere in Teluk Ketapang from the day before it. The house was very adorable (and pink!), I wish I could make it mine or something.

I may be smiling in these pictures, but I was not in a good mood. Clearly, I can't be in a good mood because in just a few more hours my family will be leaving back to Shah Alam, leaving me alone. Here. In. Terengganu. Ha. I CAN'T ACCEPT THIS- okay enough with the rant. Sorry.

My parents were the only ones who sent me for the registration, leaving my sisters at the homestay first. After finishing with the registration, my parents took me out for the last time, and we went to a keropok lekor restaurant. (Keropok lekor is a famous food in Terengganu, just in case you don't know that). They may look wrinkled and all like that, but they're absolutely delicious! My stomach is rumbling again because I'm hungryyy

Being still in a bad mood, I didn't really enjoyed the little time I had left with my family. I regret that. I wished I smiled more and didn't snap too much at my younger sister. From now onwards, I promise to enjoy and cherish the times that I get to spend with my family //wipes tears\\

Here's a little sneak peek on my room. I'm showing only half of the room because the other half belongs to my roommate, I don't feel comfortable snapping pictures of it without her permission.

So, what do you think of it? I know it's slightly messy, but hey, everyone else here considered me as one of the cleanest, okay? //laughs hysterically\\ I still miss my room back at home, but this would be enough until August. Because I'll be moving to a new campus in September. I don't know if I should be happy or not with that news...

This is the side view of my hostel, my house is on the other side of the block though. It looks a bit creepy because I took this during the night. The whole block looks fine in the day though.

Orientation week was such a pain though. The seniors pretty much tortured us (just kidding). There's just a lot of talks and motivations given by countless of people that I can't even remember their names. I slept through a few talks though, because how can I not? Slept at almost 1 AM and had to wake up before 4 AM!

But the last day of the orientation week was very fun and memorable though. The seniors gathered on stage and started singing together. They looked like they had a lot of fun too with us.

This was from the Campus Run. If you know me in real life, you'll know how much I hate running. That's why this event was not really my favourite. Thank goodness the new friend that I got was not in the mood to run either, so we both just jogged and strolled around the campus. It was okay.

This was taken during one of the orientation week too, after one of the talks. The seniors asked us to turn on the torchlight on our phones and then they turned off the lights in the hall. This was the result. It was fun, and it actually looked beautiful!

So, that's pretty much a shortened-summary of how I'm dealing with myself in UniSZA right now. There's a lot more to say, but I'm too busy with assignments and reports now, so I can't write much. Maybe later, someday soon.

It's hard to adapt to a place unfamiliar to you, especially when you're far away from your loved ones, but always believe that Allah (God) is with you, and you'll always be fine. To all muslims, spend the rest of your Ramadhan with more ibadah, and hopefully we can achieve the goodness of Lailatul Qadr. And happy Eid Al-Fitr too in less than a week ( ´ ▽ ` )οΎ‰” ♥♥

Till next time ♡ Love, Humaira
